The SBA Loan Processor/Closer shall support the Credit, SBA, and Loan Operations Departments with a variety of tasks to ensure government-guaranteed loans are processed and closed prudently according to Bank and/or government loan operating procedures.
Responsibilities:
Processing and Origination – approximately 40%
Process SBA 7(a), SBA 504, and USDA loans in accordance with bank policies and SBA Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and/or USDA guidelines. This shall include working with loan officers and borrowers to collect loan application documentation.
Work with loan officer and borrower to ensure all loan application and processing documents are accurate and completed correctly prior to submission to underwriting.
Pull various reports and searches including, but not limited to, background checks, CAIVRS, flood searches, and IRS transcripts.
Submission of loan to SBA’s E-Tran system or other government agency portal.
Prepares CLP/GP and PLP submission package to the SBA.
Prepare SBA loan modifications in accordance with SBA guidelines.
Closing – approximately 40%
Work with loan officers, borrowers, and bank closing counsel to coordinate SBA or USDA loan closings after loan approval, and close loans within bank and government agency guidelines. This will require a proactive spirit working with loan officer, borrower, loan operations, and counsel to ensure receipt of all closing documents prior to closing, reviewing/finalizing closing statements, and scheduling closing dates.
Equity injection verification according to SBA SOP and/or USDA guidelines.
Collect broker/referral source invoices and other documentation after closing.
Track post-close items and ensure all items are completed.
Work with loan operations and counsel to perfect and record real estate and UCC liens.
Portfolio, Training, and Ad Hoc Support – approximately 20%
Provide ongoing support and servicing to the GGL loan portfolio by working with loan officer, credit administration, and SBA portfolio specialist.
Assist with audits and workout loans.
Stay up-to-date on SBA and USDA policies, underwriting guidelines, and applicable training.
Comply with all internal bank training.
Any and all other duties requested by Management.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
2+ years direct SBA processing and closing experience.
In-depth knowledge of SBA Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) 50 10 6.
Working knowledge of SBA One and SBA E-Tran.
Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment with deadlines and limited direction.
Excellent communication, writing, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
Intermediate Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required – Finance, Accounting, or Economics preferred.
5+ years direct experience processing, originating, and closing SBA loans.
Direct experience with USDA government-guaranteed loan programs.
Knowledge of commercial collateral perfection in the State of Florida.
